4 Services Offered by a Pain Clinic

Pain clinics employ specialists who study the source of your discomfort, and they build treatment plans around your specific condition. When standard care falls short, these clinics offer options you might not find elsewhere. Here are four services offered by a pain clinic and how they can help:

    1. Targeted Injections

Targeted injections at a pain clinic deliver medication straight to the area causing your pain. A provider uses imaging to guide the needle, and this precision limits the treated zone to one small spot. Steroids or anesthetics may be active ingredients in certain injections.

Since the medication reaches the source directly, doctors typically use this method for joint or spinal pain. The provider maps the location first, and then administers the dose. Injections typically take only a few minutes.

    2. Selective Nerve Blocks

A selective nerve block interrupts pain signals along a specific nerve. The provider injects an anesthetic near the nerve, and the medication numbs the pathway that carries discomfort to your brain. Doctors sometimes use this method to locate the exact nerve behind your symptoms. Since this procedure targets one nerve, it serves as both a diagnostic and treatment tool.

    3. Physical Therapy

Physical therapy uses movement and exercise to address pain tied to muscles, joints, or posture. A therapist studies how you move, and then designs a routine that fits your condition. Sessions can combine stretching, strengthening, and manual techniques. Your therapist may recommend specific activities to practice at home. These typically include:

    • Stretching routines for tight muscles
    • Strengthening exercises for weak areas
    • Posture adjustments for daily tasks

As progress builds over time, therapists track your range of motion and adjust the plan. They record each session, and they modify exercises as your body responds. Consistency shapes the pace of your recovery.

Some clinics pair physical therapy with other treatments. When you combine methods, your care team coordinates the schedule. This structure keeps every part of your plan aligned.

    4. Multiwave Locked System Therapy

Multiwave Locked System (MLS) therapy uses laser light to reach tissue below the skin. The device emits two wavelengths at once, and this combination targets swelling and discomfort together. Providers apply the laser to the affected area during short sessions.

Since the treatment stays noninvasive, it requires no needles or incisions. A technician positions the device and then guides it across the treatment zone. Most sessions last several minutes.

Providers typically schedule MLS therapy across multiple visits. When you attend a full series, the clinic tracks changes at each appointment. The number of sessions depends on your condition and how your body reacts.

    Visit a Pain Clinic Today

Pain clinics offer targeted injections, selective nerve blocks, physical therapy, and MLS therapy. Each service addresses pain in a different way, and a provider matches the method to your diagnosis. If you live with ongoing pain, schedule a consultation with a pain clinic near you. A specialist will examine your condition and explain which services fit your needs, so call a pain institute near you today to book your first appointment.
